Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Logistics Specialist to support the daily logistics operations of our food manufacturing facility. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate and timely documentation of shipments, investigating freight issues, and supporting inventory and labor reporting processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in shipping/receiving, strong analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Negotiate inbound and outbound freight rates with carriers
• Coordinate transportation, inventory, and warehousing to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations
• Strategically route outbound freight (finished goods) across the US based on geography, rate, etc.
• Review and verify shipping documentation including Bills of Lading (BOL) and Proof of Delivery (POD).
• Confirm and process Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN) orders.
• Conduct audits on freight invoices, verifying against orders, shipping documents, and invoices.
• Investigate and file freight claims with LTL and Truckload carriers when discrepancies arise.
• Analyze and resolve delivery delays or discrepancies, coordinating with carriers and internal teams.
• Maintain accurate records and reports related to shipping, receiving, and inventory.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
• Utilize ERP systems (e.g., JD Edwards) for order management and data entry.
• Support inventory control and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Logistics, Shipping, or Receiving—preferably in a manufacturing, distribution environment, or freight brokerage capacity
• Strong knowledge of shipping logistics and related documentation, including BOLs and PODs.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (formulas, data analysis, spreadsheets).
• ERP experience preferred; JD Edwards experience is a plus.
• Prior exposure to inventory control processes and shipping/receiving operations is advantageous.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow through on issues.
• Capable of multitasking and prioritizing tasks in a dynamic work environment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends or holidays based on operational needs.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in a food manufacturing or regulated industry
• Familiarity with carrier claim filing and freight reconciliation
