Job summary

American Honda Motor Company, Inc. in Marysville, OH is seeking a transportation and logistics professional to optimize delivery of supplier parts for production across North American facilities. You will lead routing design, collaborate with 3PLs, carriers and internal teams, and develop metrics to improve cost and cube efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of related supply chain or logistics experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Honda supply chain flow and systems.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint and Excel for reporting and analysis.
  • Data analytics and dashboard development (Power BI, SQL).
  • Customer service skills to work with Honda internal/external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for design, planning, and utilization of transportation routing characteristics through mileage efficiency, inbound/outbound routing flow, cost reduction and efficiency gain improvements across all transportation modes (i.e. truckload direct routes, network collection routes, etc.).
  • Lead continuous improvement activities through collaboration with 3PL providers, carriers, suppliers, and key internal customers through timely trend identification, data analysis, and categorization / prioritization of issues to understand root cause and establish effective countermeasures for complex and broad scope projects and themes.
  • Develop and enhance metrics to monitor and lead situation appraisal and analysis of carrier performance to include within route bid process and sourcing recommendations to support overall carrier strategy. Conduct and lead meetings with carriers to develop and implement appropriate improvement plans.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans using recognized project management tools to track milestones, dependencies, and deliverables. Ensure project activities are completed on schedule to meet cost improvement and delivery efficiency targets. Facilitate cross functional project meetings to ensure alignment, resolve conflicts, and maintain stakeholder engagement. Ensure gap identification, root cause analysis summary, and countermeasure implementation schedule to ensure appropriate communication and effectiveness. Provide structured reporting and status progression to department leadership. Escalate unresolved gaps promptly to leadership and stakeholders to maintain transparency and ensure timely resolution.
  • Collaborate with internal teams & external partners (3PLs, suppliers, carriers) to drive continuous improvement initiatives and resolve operational challenges. Ensure alignment and execution of tasks to meet business plan targets and promote effective, open communication to gain buy in and within areas of influence.
  • Leverage data and available resources to thoroughly investigate areas of concern and utilize fact-based data to drive action. Monitor daily and weekly cube reports to ensure timely identification and resolution of issues and appropriate escalation as needed.

Job Purpose

This job contributes to the overall mission and goals of HDMA by utilizing a regional viewpoint to ensure efficient and effective design and utilization of logistics requirements for delivery of supplier parts at the right time and right condition to support smooth production operations across North American manufacturing facilities in order ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key Accountabilities
