Job summary

Honda is seeking a Process Engineer in the Supply Chain Management Operations group to engineer and optimize the internal material handling flow across North American plants. You will collaborate with production and 3PL partners to improve efficiency and reliability in delivering parts to the production line.

The role requires engineering credentials with at least 5 years in engineering, strong problem solving and communication abilities, and proficiency in MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Thorough understanding of warehouse management functions and support of manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Handle manpower planning, layout design, and packaging for new models.
  • Lead SCO projects of substantial complexity (>$250k).
  • Develop, maintain and present SAPs; oversee project evaluations and 3PL coordination.

Job Purpose

The Supply Chain Management Operations Department is responsible for the oversight, standardization and technical leadership of the internal material handling operations at the Honda automobile powertrain and final assembly sites across North America. The Process Engineer position is responsible for engineering and executing the internal logistics flow of parts through a specific Honda plant to the production line. This position will be responsible for supporting the development and design of internal material delivery processes, working and communicating with stakeholders, and developing solutions through process analysis, time studies, work balancing, etc.

Key Accountabilities
  • Subject matter expert who develops and coordinates SCO and third-party logistic (3PL) company process development activity in collaboration with production departments. Utilize engineering tools (MOST, AutoCAD, Visio, QMF, Excel, etc.) required to achieve project and business plan targets
  • Areas of responsibility include manpower planning, process and vanning layout design, expectation sheets and New Model packaging.
  • Lead SCO projects with considerable complexity ($250,000+).
  • Develop, lead, and maintain SAPs, complete project evaluations, present to leadership for approval, project oversite to 3PLs and other Honda project members
  • Support Group Leads on development of business plan themes and strategies for OPS Department
  • Oversee the investigation and resolution of complex production related issues involving production departments and 3PL’s.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • Engineering related degree or other relevant work experience

Minimum Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in engineering role
