Job summary

Caterpillar is building a new advanced manufacturing campus in Sanford, North Carolina. The Supply Chain Planning Engineer will design, implement, and improve logistics to support safety, flow, space utilization, and delivery performance, using lean manufacturing, automation, and ERP integration.

You will partner with engineering, manufacturing, and digital teams to deliver scalable material-flow solutions and drive ROI for the new facility and production launches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and strong analytical abilities.
• Experience with data analysis to identify performance opportunities.
• Knowledge of logistics, supply chain, and lean manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

• Identify, define, and implement integrated supply chain solutions and performance improvements.
• Establishing effective linkages, partnerships, and best practices with business partners and internal functions.
• Developing and analyzing data to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency.
• Design end-to-end material-flow processes for receiving, warehousing, kitting, line-side delivery, and outbound movement.
• Develop greenfield layouts, flow paths, storage strategies, replenishment models, and standard work for launch readiness.
• Develop functional requirements and capacity models for automated logistics systems.
• Build business cases and implementation plans for logistics equipment and system layouts.
• Use performance data to optimize equipment utilization, throughput, and reliability.
• Own design challenges and drive resolution with stakeholders and clear results.
• Communicate recommendations, project status, and risks to technical and nontechnical audiences.
