Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is hiring a Logistics Engineer in Sanford, North Carolina to design and improve material flow, warehousing, line-side delivery, and replenishment for a new advanced manufacturing facility.

This role collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, operations, maintenance and digital teams to deliver scalable logistics solutions, optimize throughput and ensure launch readiness.

Qualifications

Degree or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience designing logistics for a greenfield facility, major launch, or significant layout change.
Experience with logistics automation and material-handling technologies such as autonomous robots, AGVs, conveyance, AS/RS, barcode/RFID, or connected equipment.
Experience integrating logistics equipment and processes with ERP, WMS, MES, or related shop-floor systems.
Lean manufacturing, data analysis, capacity modeling, and flow optimization.

Responsibilities

Design end-to-end material-flow processes for receiving, warehousing, kitting, line-side delivery, replenishment, packing and outbound movement.
Develop new logistics layouts, flow paths, storage strategies and standard work for launch readiness.
Develop functional requirements, equipment specs, capacity models, risk assessments, and acceptance criteria for automated logistics systems.
Evaluate material-handling technologies, connected systems, suppliers and integrators; recommend safe, scalable solutions.
Build business cases and implementation plans for logistics equipment and layouts; align cross-functional partners.
