Job summary

Batory Foods in Commerce, CA is seeking a Logistics Planner to manage day-to-day load planning in our TMS system and to maintain proactive communication with customers and suppliers. You will ensure on-time shipments, optimize routes, and align with carriers to meet service goals.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Logistics/Business, 5 years in logistics, and hands-on experience with TMS/BluJay, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics / Business / Supply Chain required.
• 5 years’ experience in logistics.
• Experience in TMS and BluJay preferred; MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint preferred.

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and planning skills.
• Effective oral communication and listening.

Responsibilities

• Freight assignments to exceed on-time pick-up and delivery expectations; proactive analysis to prevent service failures, handling inbound and outbound movement.
• Maintain proactive customer communications; professional interactions with internal and external customers.
• Develop carrier relationships and cover loads.
• Manage accessorial requests in TMS and monitor transportation costs.
• Apply knowledge of modes, rates, weights, volumes, pallets, class to shipping requirements.
• Verify shipment parameters and adjust as needed.
• Optimize customer orders into shipments in the most cost-effective way.
• Coordinate and direct shipments and carrier equipment utilization.
• Communicate and gain approvals for expedite shipments or rate exceeded thresholds.
• Utilize the Transportation Management System (TMS) to manage the order lifecycle.

LOGISTICS PLANNER - Commerce, CA

Job Description

This position will be responsible for the day-to-day load planning in Batory Foods TMS. Tactical relationships related to the day-to-day execution of the Batory Foods customer and supplier account(s). Ensuring proactive communication to all internal and external Batory customers. Tracking and tracing of all exception, outbound and inbound shipments.

Candidates must be able to work in-office in Commerce, CA

Key Responsibilities:

• Freight Assignments - Exceed customer on-time pick-up and delivery expectations; proactive analysis to prevent service failures, executing inbound and outbound movement.
• Customer Relationship - Consistent and professional communications; effective, prompt, and courteous communications with respect to difficult situations, relaying service failures, etc.
• Carrier Relationship - Develop carrier relationship and cover loads.
• Financial Procedures and Operating Metrics – Manage accessorial request in in TMS.
• Leverages knowledge and understanding of Modes, Rates, Weights, Volumes, Pallets, Class etc. based on Customer's shipping requirements.
• Verify shipment suitability, e.g. weight, size, product, special shipping requirements and make necessary adjustments.
• Optimize Customer Orders into shipments in the most cost-effective way.
• Coordinate and direct shipments and deliveries, Carrier equipment utilization.
• Communicate and gain approval for expedite shipments or any rate exceeding account specific benchmark threshold.
• Utilize the Transportation Management System (TMS) to its fullest potential to facilitate the life cycle of an order.

Education and Formal Training:

• Bachelor’s Degree (Logistics / Business/ Supply Chain) required.
• 5 years’ experience in logistics.
• Experience in TMS and/or BluJay Solutions, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point preferred.
• The ability to lead and motivate individuals and groups. Able to think creatively and strategically to successfully mediate and negotiate with individuals and groups internally and externally. Able to overcome obstacles to cooperation and to foster harmonious relations.
• Detailed oriented with strong organizational and planning skills.
• Effective communicator both oral and Good listener.
