Job description

The Logistics Management Specialist is responsible for directing, developing, and implementing policies, programs, and procedures related to supply chain management planning and logistics operations. The position also provides administrative and technical oversight to lower-graded specialists and may support geographically separated areas where supply chain management personnel are not assigned.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/09/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. General Adjustment SF-50's with the effective date of within the last year do not provide the information to reflect time-in-grade requirement has been met and therefore cannot be the only SF-50. If you are currently serving in a Hybrid Title 38 position, your SF-50's must reflect you have been in the position longer than one year.

Selective Placement Factor
  • Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Must be proficient in spoken Spanish.
Specialized Experience

You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: serving in lead or senior roles supporting supply chain management functions, directing or assisting with logistics planning, and analyzing product delivery or supply chain processes to recommend improvements through data and statistical analysis. It also includes applying specialized knowledge of logistics support activities such as acquisition management, purchasing, transportation, distribution, inventory management and control, and the management of expendable and non-expendable equipment and warehouse operations. Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: troubleshooting and resolving issues where supply chain deficiencies affect the organization's mission, performing logistical assessments of strategic supply support and alerts management of systemic problems; determining current and future supply (procurement and maintenance requirements; directing item distribution to storage locations; making recommendations and/or proposing plans for implementing cost saving methods. Determining underlying causes of deficiencies to identify supply chain problem areas and preparing detailed reports by conducting cost analysis.
