Job summary

Kuehne+Nagel in Charlotte, NC seeks a Senior Logistics Systems Engineer to design, implement, and optimize IT systems powering contract logistics, ensuring seamless integration across WMS, ERP, and TMS and reliable warehouse workflows.

You will lead end-to-end delivery, work with stakeholders and customers, drive standardization and IaC, and coach global teams. Required are a IT bachelor’s degree, 3–5 years WMS experience (Blue Yonder/JDA/RedPrairie), and leadership/PM skills.

Qualifications

• 4-10 years Contract Logistics or 3PL experience.
• 3-5 years operations experience with consumer goods.
• 2-5 years leadership experience (direct or virtual).

As an IT Systems lead engineer, your primary objective is to be successful in gaining and retaining customer business by offering vertical leading solutions for Anchor projects in the consumer vertical. You are a driving force for the design of IT solutions and a recognized subject matter expert. You will work with external and internal stakeholders, as well as the customer, while focusing on the end-to-end successful delivery of the project. You will also be key in developing new IT standards, tools, and solutions in the vertical. The right candidate will have a continuous improvement mindset and a tendency towards 5S in the workplace.

How you create impact

• Pre-Sales, Solution Design & Customer Engagement: Lead customer discovery and architect scalable contract logistics IT solutions, owning Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs), Solution Concept Templates (SCTs), and Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) / Detailed Financial Estimates (DFE) to deliver competitive Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and automation strategies.
• End-to-End Solution Delivery: Own full lifecycle delivery across Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Transportation Management Systems (TMS), including build, integration, testing, cutover, and hypercare to ensure successful, stable go-lives.
• Operational Excellence & Support Leadership: Ensure operational readiness through documentation, runbooks, and knowledge transfer, while providing Level 3 (L3) support and driving proactive problem management to maximize system reliability.
• Standardization, Governance & Capability Building: Establish and enforce scalable standards through reusable architecture and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), while coaching global teams and ensuring consistent quality across implementations.

What we would like you to bring

• Bachelor Degree in an Information Technology field or equivalent work experience
• 4-10 years Contract Logistics or 3PL experience required
• 3-5 years of operations experience dealing with consumer goods
• 3-5 yearsof WMS (Wharehouse Managment Systems) experience, preferably Blue Yonder, JDA, or Redprairie
• 2-5 years Leadership experience (direct or virtual)
• 2-5 years experience as a Senior IT Solutions Designer Specialist
• 2-5 years Project Management experience
