Job summary

Stutsman Logistics, Inc. is seeking motivated students for fall 2026 and spring 2027 to join our team as Logistics Interns. This in-person internship in Cedar Rapids, IA will connect classroom logistics knowledge with real-world operations.

Interns will build exposure to account management, sales, customer service, and carrier development while strengthening communication, collaboration, problem solving and analytical thinking under the Director of Operations.

Qualifications

• Junior or senior year as of August 2026.
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or related field.
• Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and self-discipline.
• Leadership characteristics and active involvement in college activities.
• Ability to work effectively with others.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Identify shipping lanes and markets needing carrier capacity.
• Learn and use Transportation Management System (McLeod).
• Assist Account Managers with order entry and appointment scheduling.
• Use capacity sourcing software to locate carriers matching lane needs.
• Create carrier profiles and lane preferences in the OS for new carriers.
• Assist carrier managers to meet customer-specific electronic carrier tracking requirements.
• Participate in sales processes including pricing, bidding, CRM, prospecting, and marketing.
• Meet with executive team and departments to understand the organization.
• Provide dispatch services on assigned loads.
• Complete asset equipment training.
• Other duties as assigned.

Stutsman Logistics, Inc. is hiring motivated students to join our team as Logistics Interns for fall 2026 and spring 2027.

About The Job

The Logistics Internship will provide students the opportunity to connect classroom logistics and supply chain knowledge with real-world experience. Interns will gain exposure to and experience in account management, sales, customer service, carrier development, and other aspects of Stutsman Logistics, Inc.’s day to day operations. Throughout the internship, students with develop and strengthen their communication skills, networking/collaboration, problem solving and analytical thinking. This is a part-time, in-person role at our office in Cedar Rapids, IA and reports directly to the Director of Operations.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Carrier Development Manager to identify specific shipping lanes and markets where additional carrier capacity is needed
• Develop your understanding and gain the ability to utilize company system(s) to accomplish tasks including the Transportation Management System, McLeod
• Assist Account Managers with department processes, such as order entry and appointment scheduling
• Use capacity sourcing software to locate carriers matching specific lane needs
• Create carrier profiles and lane preferences in the operating system for new carriers
• Assist carrier managers to ensure customer specific electronic carrier tracking requirements are met
• Participate in sales processes for both current and potential customers in collaboration with the sales department, including pricing, bidding and platforms, cold calling, CRM, prospecting, effective marketing, customer visits, account set up, leakage, and debriefs
• Meet with executive team and administrative departments to further understanding of the organization, including accounting, human resources, and marketing
• Provide dispatch services on assigned loads
• Complete asset equipment training
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Only students that are in their junior or senior year as of August 2026 will be considered for this internship
• Must be a student actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field
• Knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Outlook, and Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and self-discipline
• Possess strong leadership characteristics and be actively involved in college activities
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background investigation
