Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies in Romulus, MI is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to lead diesel technology operations and ensure safe, reliable truck performance.

You will supervise maintenance activities, coordinate fleet availability, manage parts inventory, and develop the fleet information system while upholding our values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety. Travel to offsite locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have 5+ years in diesel mechanics and 2+ years in management.
• Valid commercial driver's license.
• Ability to operate diesel shop tools and equipment.
• Strong organization and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work weekends and travel as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate fleet availability and schedule maintenance.

Job description

Supervise and coordinate the activities of truck maintenance. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety. RESPONSIBILITIES - Model Customer 1st behavior; deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer service

• Coordinate fleet availability
• Schedule maintenance
• Produce mechanics' schedule
• Develop and upgrade fleet information system
• Obtain permits and licenses; maintain records of permits and licenses
• Maintain inventory of repair parts and equipment; requisition replacement stock
• Purchase parts for maintenance department
• Prepare fuel inventory and reports
• Prepare repair reports and vehicle requests
• Review life cycle costing reports
• Maintain and evaluate tires
• Recommend capital purchase of new equipment
• Select vendors
• Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports
• Maintain flexibility to work any shift, including weekends
• Travel to offsite locations to support business needs

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum

High School Diploma or GED

5+ years experience in diesel mechanics/technology, and two years management experience; or combination of relevant education and experience

Ability to operate all tools and equipment associated with a diesel engine shop, trucks, tractors, trailers

Valid commercial drivers license

Ability to work in a fastpaced environment

Maintain confidentiality

Accuracy/attention to detail

Ability to organize/prioritize variety of tasks/projects

Familiarity with truck maintenance terms and processes

Ability to continue education
