Job Description:
Logistics Engineer
Location: Boulder, Colorado (Onsite)
Length: 9-month contract-to-hire
Role Overview
Our organization is seeking a Logistics Engineer to join a specialty engineering team. This is a people-focused environment where the selected candidate will collaborate with engineers, users, and customers to provide logistics engineering solutions. This position requires interaction with internal team members, external government customers, and civil partners. As a senior team member, the successful candidate will contribute expertise at both technical execution and strategic planning levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and own the end-to-end Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) process, including defining data collection methods, establishing analysis models, and generating supportability recommendations.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive Level-of-Repair Analysis (LORA) framework to determine cost-effective repair-versus-replace strategies.
- Conduct Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) assessments and produce Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) reports.
- Develop and maintain sparing models to establish optimal inventory levels.
- Define, author, and maintain logistic documentation, including Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA), Repair and Overhaul instructions, and Illustrated Parts Breakdown (IPB).
- Create and maintain the Product Support Strategy (PSS) and develop an Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Plan.
- Support configuration management by ensuring alignment between maintenance requirements and engineering design changes.
- Adhere to relevant industry standards, including MIL-STD-1388, GEIA-STD-0007, S3000L, or equivalents.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure compliance with contractual expectations for logistics deliverables.
- Participate in program-level proposals, supportability assessments, and business capture efforts.
Required Qualifications
Level 3 Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of logistics/engineering experience; or a Master's degree and 3 years of experience. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Proven experience applying Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) and Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) methodologies.
- Active Secret Clearance at the time of application
- Familiarity with Integrated Logistics System (ILS) programs and the ability to assess reliability and maintainability requirements.
- Working knowledge of military and contractual references (e.g., MIL-STD-1388, MIL-STD-1472, MIL-HDBK-502B, S1000D, MIL-STD-31000B).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Level 4 Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 8 years of logistics/engineering experience; a Master's degree and 6 years of experience; or a PhD and 4 years of experience. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Proven experience applying Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) and Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) methodologies.
- Active Secret Clearance at the time of application
- Familiarity with Integrated Logistics System (ILS) programs and the ability to assess reliability and maintainability requirements.
- Working knowledge of military and contractual references (e.g., MIL-STD-1388, MIL-STD-1472, MIL-HDBK-502B, S1000D, MIL-STD-31000B).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced experience with logistics tools such as EAGLE, SLIC, PowerLOG-J, or eQUIP.
- Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, Certified Reliability Engineer, or Certified Professional Logistician.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and optimize Life-Cycle Cost (LCC) and Total Ownership Cost (TOC) models.
- Leadership in interpreting program specifications, leading trade-off studies, and defining reliability/maintainability/availability requirements.
Work Environment
This position may require travel up to 10% of the time. No relocation assistance is available.
