Job summary

Lofton Staffing Services is partnering with a Belle Rose, LA food manufacturer to hire a Logistics / Distribution Coordinator. This newly created direct-hire role will own distribution operations, coordinating with production, inventory control, QA/QC, and customer service to keep goods moving between two facilities.

Job description

A well-established, family-oriented Belle Rose, LA food manufacturer for third-party foodservice distribution is hiring a Logistics / Distribution Coordinator. This is a newly created, direct-hire role — built to give distribution a dedicated owner — and the person in it will act as the central link between production, inventory control, QA/QC, and customer service internally, and suppliers, distributors, carriers, and customers externally, keeping product moving smoothly in and out of the company’s two Belle Rose facilities.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Schedule inbound and outbound freight — trucks, deliveries, and dock times for pickups — with customers, suppliers, trucking companies, and distribution centers (the company ships via 3PL carriers and does not run its own trucks or drivers)
• Work hand in hand with the Shipping & Receiving managers to keep product moving smoothly
• Head up the transfer of raw materials and finished goods between the company’s two facilities
• Coordinate the handling of shortages, damages, rejected loads, paperwork discrepancies, and other claims with internal teams and outside parties — communicating and applying the company’s shipping terms consistently and clearly
• Track shipments and documentation for USDA compliance in the company’s ERP system
• Develop and implement new distribution processes and procedures as the role takes shape

Requirements

WHAT YOU BRING

• No degree or certifications required — the company welcomes a range of experience levels, from developing to seasoned
• Background in food manufacturing or foodservice distribution preferred, with cold-chain (refrigerated/frozen) experience a plus
• Familiarity with how third-party and broadline distributors operate — appointment scheduling, receiving requirements, and distributor portals
• Comfort with shipping terms, bills of lading, and freight documentation
• Strong written and verbal communication, including the patience and tact to correct misunderstandings with outside partners without damaging the relationship
• Strong organizational skills to keep multiple moving shipments and deadlines on track without losing the details
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, warehouse management systems (WMS), and ERP systems
