Job summary

ROCS Grad Staffing is seeking an experienced Logistics Dispatcher / Load Planner in Herndon, VA. You will dispatch and track shipments across our trucking operation and brokerage network, building optimized routes that balance speed, cost, and driver hours while ensuring on-time delivery.

You will source, vet, and manage carriers, coordinate specialized equipment, and monitor DOT Hours of Service and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years in logistics, with time-critical 3PL brokerage experience.
• Hands-on background in ground transportation or asset-based trucking operations.
• Proven dispatch, load planning and carrier management experience.
• Experience coordinating specialized equipment.
• Working knowledge of transportation vehicle types and what each can haul.
• Skill in optimized route planning.
• Basic understanding of DOT driver Hours of Service and related regulations.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills, especially under time pressure.
• Comfort with a flexible schedule, including some after-hours coverage.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch and track shipments across company trucks and third-party carriers, keeping customers updated from pickup to delivery
• Plan loads and build optimized routes that balance speed, cost and driver hours
• Source, vet and manage carriers; negotiate rates and build a reliable carrier network
• Coordinate specialized equipment (liftgates, climate control, flatbeds, team drivers) for non-standard freight
• Match each shipment to the right vehicle type, from cargo vans and sprinters to straight trucks and tractor-trailers
• Monitor driver Hours of Service and DOT rules so every plan is compliant
• Handle delays, breakdowns and service failures in real time, with a backup plan ready
• Keep accurate load, carrier and billing records in the TMS

About The Role

We are a global logistics company hiring for an experienced Logistics Dispatcher / Load Planner to run shipments from booking to delivery: matching each load to the right carrier and equipment, planning the fastest compliant route, and solving problems before the customer sees them.
