Job summary

Chromalox is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to plan and coordinate international and domestic shipments. You will manage documentation, routes, and schedules, and liaise with customers, brokers, and federal agencies to ensure compliance and timely delivery.

You will work with cross-functional teams to optimize processes, maintain records, and support TPM initiatives while ensuring accurate packing, labeling, and transportation arrangements.

Qualifications

The Role:

Plans and coordinates business transactions involving the import and export of goods to foreign countries, as well as domestic shipments. Coordinates shipping documentation, routes, schedules, transportation methods, and communication with customers, brokers, importers, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and other internal and external stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Solicits bids for export and import shipments, prepares required documentation, shipping routes, and schedules, and negotiates pricing and service.
  • Acts as an intermediary between Chromalox UT, customer brokers, importers, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents for negotiation, document review, and distribution.
  • Works with foreign buyers, federal agents, and company executives to coordinate ocean, air, ground, and other transportation methods.
  • Solicits bids for domestic shipments and prepares required documentation, shipping routes, and schedules. Identifies timely and cost-effective shipping methods and coordinates storage, pick-and-pack operations, consolidations, full-container movements, and inland transportation.
  • Determines proper classifications of dutiable value and products subject to quotas. Completes shipment details and documentation, including licensing agreements, customs declarations, packing, and shipping requirements.
  • Maintains accurate and organized shipping documentation and files.
  • Provides customer service regarding shipment status, routing, and schedules.
  • Operates equipment used to prepare products for shipment and utilizes label, FedEx, UPS, and LTL shipping programs.
  • Reviews packing lists to ensure all required items are included and uses appropriate materials to prepare and pack containers for shipment.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on machines as scheduled and required for TPM.
  • Works independently and as part of a team to develop and implement quality and efficiency improvements.
  • Conducts tests and inspections of processes and examines work to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Cross-trains on essential department functions and works at different workstations as production and business needs require.
  • May operate a forklift to unload or move materials and products.
  • Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal working relationships and assists with training and teaching others as needed.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area free of excess materials.
  • Supports and participates in company, department, safety, quality, and operational policies, procedures, programs, and activities.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma with two to three years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience with import/export processes and domestic shipping practices.
  • Knowledge of import rules and regulations of foreign countries, shipping methods, U.S. government export regulations, special packaging or handling restrictions, hazardous materials requirements, and documentation associated with foreign trade.
  • Experience with customs regulations, tariffs, international law, and export-import regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of computer software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and customer logistics programs and software.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, proportions, and decimals.
  • Ability to understand and use various measuring devices to meet drawing dimensions and specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, work orders, work instructions, diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow through, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team in a manufacturing and shipping environment.
