Job summary

Cosma International in Liberty, Missouri, seeks a Logistics Area Leader to optimize material planning, inventory management, and production scheduling, collaborating with suppliers to meet demand while maintaining lean inventories.

You’ll refine Kanban sizes, monitor levels, work with Production, Engineering and Quality, and uphold ERP/WMS accuracy, driving continuous improvement and safe, efficient material flow on the shop floor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3 years’ experience or an equal combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Inventory Management, Kanban, JIT and logistics for high-volume tangible goods.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience with Value Stream Mapping preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in data.
  • Business acumen and sound judgment for daily decisions.
  • Creative thinker capable of leading process improvements.
  • RFID knowledge in implementation and operation.
  • Able to address ambiguity, multi-task, and work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Continue development and revisions of Value Stream Maps to identify opportunities for improvement in Material Flow.
  • Define and recalculate Kanban sizes for each component between Supermarkets and shop floor as required.
  • Monitor performance of Kanban levels and take pro-active actions to solve problems and mitigate risk.
  • Interact with Production, Engineering and Quality to plan and execute Kanban requirements.
  • Coordinate and implement effective material handling techniques to assure material availability while achieving defined Kanban levels.
  • Cycle counts as required.
  • Responsible for shop floor communication systems execution.
  • Maintain WMS and Kanban updates in ERP.
  • Responsible for mobile plant equipment such as forklifts, tuggers, AMRs, etc.
  • Resolve technical issues, supervise, and validate completion of deployed AMR missions.
  • Approve changes in Kanban levels.
  • Conduct material flow analysis, plant layouts, and warehousing requirements.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to review indicators and open issues.
  • Develop team members through coaching and mentoring.
  • Establish and maintain effective communications across departments.
  • Participate in manpower planning and recruiting.
  • Promote accountability via progressive discipline policy.
  • Ensure training per the matrix.
  • Conduct accident/incident investigations.

Location: Liberty, MO

Magna is seeking a LogisticsArea Leader to support material planning, inventory management, production scheduling, and supplier relationships to ensure customer demand is met while maintaining efficient inventory levels and uninterrupted production operations.

What You’ll Do
  • Continue development and revisions of VSM (Value Stream Map) to identify opportunities for improvement in Material Flow.
  • Define and recalculate Kanban sizes for each component between Supermarkets and shop floor as required.
  • Monitor performance of Kanban levels and take pro-active actions to solve problems and mitigate risk attributable to these levels and the corresponding assembly cells.
  • Interact closely with Production, Engineering and Quality to effectively plan and execute Kanban requirements to support Plant requirements.
  • Coordinates and implements effective material handling techniques to assure material availability while achieving defined Kanban levels.
  • Cycle counts as required.
  • Responsible for shop floor communication systems execution.
  • Maintain WMS and Kanban functionality updates in ERP.
  • Responsible for mobile equipment in the Plant such as forklifts, tuggers, AMRs, etc.
  • Resolve technical issues, supervise, and validate the completion of deployed AMR missions throughout shift
  • Approve changes in Kanban levels.
  • Conducts material handling and flow analysis; responsible for material flow within the plant, plant layouts, new equipment layout and warehousing requirements.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to review indicators, open issues and concerns as well as communicate quality alerts.
  • Develop Team Members through coaching and mentoring.
  • Establish and maintain effective communications with all departments.
  • Participate in manpower planning and recruiting.
  • Promote accountability through application of the progressive discipline policy.
  • Ensure training for Team Members as outlined in the training matrix.
  • Conduct accident / incident investigations.
