Job description

The Log Yard Heavy Equipment Operator reports to the Log Sorting Senior Operator. Responsibilities include but not limited to; following all safety and work procedures; loading and unloading materials in a safe and efficient manner using heavy machinery; assisting in loading the saw line infeed if production deems it necessary; clean industrial equipment and work stations; perform daily inspections of lift trucks and complete required forms; and other duties assigned.

Main Responsibilities:

• Follow safety and work procedures.
• Load and unload materials in a safe and efficient manner using heavy machinery
• Infeed – using the 988k Caterpillar to unload log trucks and stage material on the infeed deck or storage area
• Outfeed – using the Liebherr & Volvo High Lift unload logs from a variety of sorted bins into their corresponding inventory location
• Assisting in loading the saw line infeed if production deems in necessary.
• Clean industrial equipment and work stations
• Perform daily inspections of lift trucks and complete required forms
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

• Must be dependable and show ability to take direction.
• Able to work flexible schedules and long hours.
• Minimal skills required, however must be able to learn general manufacturing duties.
• Ability to work outdoors in all temperatures, in loud, high volume environment.
• Perform essential functions of job that includes walking, standing, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work with computer software, Human Machine Interface (HMI), and control panels to operate grading line safely and effectively.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time; must be able to sit, stand, push/pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, or crawl occasionally
• Frequent lifting/moving of items that may range in weight up to 50 pounds
• Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts
• Exposed to hot, cold, wet or humid conditions
