Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Locum Veterinarian to provide preventive care, diagnose and treat diseases in pets. The role requires performing surgeries, maintaining medical records, and advising clients on health needs in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The position emphasizes strong communication, flexibility, and teamwork, with hours possibly extending beyond 40 per week. DEA license and state veterinary board licensure are required.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.
• License in good standing with the applicable state veterinary board.
• License with the Drug Enforcement Agency required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of pets, clients and staff using safe restraint techniques and maintain clean treatment areas.
• Obtain relevant history from clients and maintain complete medical records.
• Educate clients about preventative care and hospital services.
• Prescribe and administer preventive care, diagnose and treat diseases.
• Communicate diagnosis and treatment plan to veterinary team and client.
• Follow state guidelines for duties of veterinary assistants and technicians.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
