Job summary

BAS HealthCare in Brattleboro, VT is seeking a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner for hospitalist locum coverage starting December 2026. The role is 100% inpatient with adult patients, Monday–Friday 9am–6pm, in-person presence required in the unit/hospital, and no call shifts.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of inpatient/hospitalist experience, an Acute Care APRN license, and a Vermont license (or willingness to obtain). Cerner EMR with AI scribe support is used.

Qualifications

• Must hold an Acute Care APRN license and all required certifications for Nurse Practitioner.
• Active Vermont state license required or willingness to obtain.
• Minimum 2-3 years of inpatient/hospitalist adult medicine experience required.
• Clean background with no malpractice or license issues - no exceptions.
• NPDB required at time of offer (within 30 days).
• Estimated credentialing timeframe is 60-90 days pending timely Vermont state license.

Responsibilities

• Provide locum APP Hospitalist coverage beginning December 2026 and onwards, with no set end date for the right candidate.
• Shifts are Monday through Friday, 9am to 6pm with in-person presence required in the unit/hospital during the shift.
• No call coverage required.
• Practice setting is 100% inpatient/hospital-based with an adult inpatient and observation population.
• Manage an average of 8-10 patients per day.
• Respond to codes and rapid responses.
• Manage step-down level patients and observation/inpatient floor level of care and intermediate level of care.
• Ability to manage stabilization of critically ill patients and arrange for transport to tertiary care level.
• Utilize Cerner Community Works EMR with AI scribe support for documentation.

Compensation:

Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included.
