Job summary

77 Consultants is seeking a Locum MD or DO specializing in General Surgery to join our medical practice in Bardstown on a contract basis. You will provide comprehensive surgical services from consultation to post-operative follow-up and collaborate with the medical team to ensure safe outcomes.

This role is ideal for a licensed physician seeking flexible contract work with a patient-centered surgical approach. Schedule includes 24-hour call shifts and coverage.

Qualifications

• MD or DO in General Surgery with board certification or eligibility.
• Active, unrestricted US medical license.
• Board certification/eligibility in General Surgery.
• Completed General Surgery residency.
• DEA registration and state credentials.
• Excellent communication and ability to work independently.
• Prior locum or contract experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform general surgical procedures per established clinical standards.
• Evaluate and diagnose surgical conditions through patient assessments.
• Develop and implement pre-operative and post-operative care plans.
• Conduct patient consultations and explain procedures, risks, and outcomes.
• Provide post-operative monitoring and follow-up care.
• Collaborate with nursing staff, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation and records.
• Adhere to regulatory requirements, hospital policies, and patient safety protocols.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical case reviews.
• Support continuity of care during coverage periods for the practice.
