Job summary

PALM Health in Northern California is seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic PA for a 6+ month locum contract with full-time coverage across the OR, ICU and clinic. The role offers high autonomy and work across cardiovascular and thoracic surgery cases.

Candidates must have EVH and Cardiac Surgery First Assist experience, California license or eligibility, and be prepared for weekend and evening call. The team currently handles about 100+ cardiac and thoracic cases yearly, with the PA alternating

Qualifications

• Proficient in Cardiac Surgery First Assisting in OR cases.
• Experience with Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH).
• CA license or eligible per hospital credentialing standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the OR for Cardiovascular and Thoracic cases, including EVH.
• Perform bedside procedures: thoracentesis, chest tubes, arterial lines, CV access.
• Split duties 50/50 between OR and non-surgical care; work as a team with surgeons.
• Pre-op H&P and post-op recovery for CVICU and clinic patients.

Job description

Palm Health Resources is hiring an experienced Cardiothoracic PA to join our thriving program in beautiful Northern CA!

6+ Month Locum Contract! Full Time! Full Continuum of Care position with OR, ICU and Clinic. Will consider perm and locum candidates!

• The position is very autonomous and performing at a high level of acuity and responsibility.
• OR assisting for both Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgery cases including Endoscopic Vein Harvesting using the MAquet VasoView Hemepro 2 system.
• Performance of bedside procedures including thoracentesis, chest tube placement, arterial lines and central venous access
• Daily duties to be split 50/50 with current PA. Working as a team the candidate will alternate daily between the OR and non-surgical duties.
• Currently 2 surgeons and 1 PA doing ~100+ hearts a year plus about the same number of thoracic cases annually.
• Endoscopic Vein Harvesting: 1 year (Required)
• Cardiac Surgery First Assist: 1 year (Required)
• Weekend and evening call coverage (Required)
• Office-based pre-op H&P and post-op recovery of both Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgery patients including, OR and CVICU

Experience:

Provider must be proficient in Cardiac Surgery First Assisting in OR cases and proficient in EVH. California licensed or eligible and meet the hospital's medical staff credentialing standards.
