Union Pacific Railroad is seeking a Mechanical Service Operator to support locomotive operations by stocking materials, cleaning assigned areas, and maintaining shop and service facilities. You will gain hands-on knowledge of Union Pacific's mechanical operations while working with a passionate team.

The role requires safety awareness, basic mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work around large equipment.

Formación

• Minimum age 18 or older.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations.
• Ability to read tables, charts, graphs, and written text.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience using computers and basic keyboarding skills.
• Understanding and adherence to safety rules and safe work practices.
• Basic mechanical knowledge to solve problems.
• Willingness to work at locations you are prepared to live and work.
• Comfort around large equipment such as railcars, locomotives, and cranes.
• Willingness to wear PPE (glasses, boots, hard hats, hearing protection).
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Must pass an English assessment before interview.

Responsabilidades

• Operate locomotives to transport them between shop locations, service tracks, switching areas, and line switches, and assist hostlers by operating derails.
• Safely operate shop machines and tools, including forklifts, backhoes, bobcats, mobile cranes, and high-pressure steam cleaning equipment.
• Restock locomotives with materials (drinking water, sand, spare parts) and ensure supplies.
• Thoroughly clean locomotive interiors and exteriors.
• Conduct air brake tests and inspect for defects or unsafe conditions.
• Maintain communication with team members via hand radios and signals.
• Demonstrate initiative and accountability to complete tasks safely and on time.
• Prioritize personal and coworker safety and report hazards.
• Foster positive relationships with colleagues, supervisors, contractors, and customers.
• Fulfill additional duties as required.
