Union Pacific Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Service Operator in Hermiston, Oregon to support locomotive operations by stocking materials and maintaining shop areas. The role involves operating locomotives, using forklifts, backhoes, bobcats, and cranes, and ensuring safety and cleanliness in the service facilities.

Responsibilities include air brake tests, equipment inspections, and effective team communication.

Formación

• Must be 18+ years old.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Basic arithmetic, fractions and decimals.
• Ability to read tables, charts, graphs and text.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Experience with computers and keyboarding.
• Understand safety rules and risk awareness.
• Follow instruction and safety bulletins/federal docs.
• Mechanical knowledge to solve problems.

Responsabilidades

• Operate locomotives to move between shop locations and tracks; assist hostlers.
• Safely operate shop machines and tools (forklifts, backhoes, bobcats, cranes, steam cleaners).
• Maintain safety and regulatory compliance.
• Restock locomotives with materials and supplies.
• Clean locomotive interiors and exteriors for cleanliness and appearance.
• Perform air brake tests and inspect equipment for defects.
• Communicate with team using radios and signals.
• Demonstrate initiative and accountability; complete tasks timely.
• Prioritize personal and coworker safety; report hazards.
• Foster positive relations with colleagues, supervisors, and customers.
