Job summary

Cemex US in Medley, FL, is seeking a Railperson to operate locomotives and related loadout equipment under supervision. This outdoor role interfaces daily with plant operations to ensure timely, accurate work across the yard.

Responsibilities include directing train movements, inspecting track conditions, maintaining locomotives and railyard, reporting issues to shop mechanics, coordinating with truckers and customers, and supporting track repairs.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with similar equipment or machinery.
• Ability to carry out simple oral and written instructions and deal with simple probes from standardized situations.
• Ability to perform basic computer functions.
• Basic mathematical skills and measurement understanding.
• Ability to read English in manuals, regulations, and safety reports.
• Basic English for completing paperwork such as pre-shift inspection forms.
• Ability to speak English and communicate via two-way radio.
• Ability to detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions.
• Basic mechanical knowledge to detect equipment issues.
• High level of attentiveness and physical coordination for safe locomotive operation.

Responsibilities

• Records downtime and actions taken
• Assist with track repairs and general rail maintenance
• Assist with inspecting and cleaning of railcars
