Job summary

Cemex US in Miami seeks a Railperson to operate locomotives and loadout equipment under the supervision of the Plant Supervisor. This outside position interfaces with daily operations, and accuracy and timeliness are critical to keep the line moving and safe.

You will perform track inspections, direct train movements, and coordinate with truckers and customers while maintaining locomotives and reporting any mechanical issues.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to carry out simple oral and written instructions.
• Ability to read English sufficiently to read manuals, regulations, and reports.
• Ability to speak English and communicate via two-way radio.
• Basic mechanical knowledge to detect potential breakdowns.
• Ability to detect safety hazards and respond accordingly.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for safe rail movements.
• Operates locomotives.
• Directs train movements.
• Continually inspect track conditions.
• Maintains and cleans locomotives and railyard.
• Fills out forms to report mechanical problems to shop mechanics.
• Communicates with and cooperates with truckers and customers.
• Records down time and actions taken.
• Assist with track repairs and general rail maintenance.
• Assist with inspecting and cleaning of railcars.
