Job summary

Keokuk Junction Railway Co. in Illinois is seeking a professional Conductor to ensure safe rail operations and strict adherence to all train orders, signals, and FRA regulations.

You will coordinate with dispatchers, yardmasters, and locomotive engineers while inspecting equipment and supervising the movement of cars. The role requires reading bulletins, communicating by radio/telephone, and training crews in coupling/uncoupling and switching procedures.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older
• Valid Driver's License
• 2 years verifiable work experience and/or college; railroad industry preferred
• Must pass all required assessments
• Must pass a background screening
• Federal drug/alcohol testing is required
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the position
• Flexible schedule with possible overtime

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with train orders, signals, and FRA safety rules
• Review dispatchers' instructions and coordinate with locomotive engineer and crew
• Inspect equipment on cars prior to departures
• Read and interpret bulletins, work orders, and switch lists
• Safely couple/uncouple cars and operate switches
• Maintain safe movement and placement of cars with customers
• Respond to signals and gauges, operate throttle and brake controls
• Perform locomotive maintenance tasks (brake shoes, oil, sand, fuel)
• Follow safety rules and management directions
