The role requires flexibility to work varied shifts and respond to on‑call emergencies, with emphasis on mechanical, air, and electrical systems, and the ability to travel as needed to support operations.

Job description

R. J. Corman Railroad Company is currently seeking a Locomotive Mechanic to join our team in Towanda, PA.

Responsibilities

• Locomotive and FRA inspections.
• Locomotive repairs including mechanical, air and electrical.
• Performs preventative maintenance on company locomotives and equipment.
• Freight car repair and general equipment repairs if necessary.
• Troubleshoots and repairs equipment as needed.
• Maintain safe and clean work area.

Specialized Or Technical Knowledge, Or Education And Experience

• Experienced in locomotive and FRA inspections.
• Ability to travel if necessary.
• Ability to work unconventional shifts and be on-call.
• Locomotive repairs including mechanical, air and electrical.
• Knowledge of power and hydraulic tools.

Physical Requirements

• Able to perform physical strenuous work.
• Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• Requires constant standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and balancing in a safe manner.
• Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
• Perform a rapid, horizontal hand torque action with a force of 100 lbs.

Environmental Conditions

• Must be able to perform specified duties outside in all weather conditions.
• Work is performed outside in varying types of environmental conditions.
