Job summary

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is seeking a skilled locksmith to install, repair, and maintain locks, electronic systems, and door hardware across our facilities in Tampa, FL. You will cut and issue keys, manage key inventory, and ensure strict security for all keys and cores.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, several years of experience with commercial lock systems, and the ability to work independently or with others.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience with commercial, institutional key, lock, or door egress devices.
• Completion of an industry-recognized program in locksmithing, building/maintenance, or carpentry.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize and respond to all facility work orders in a timely manner.
• Diagnose problems in locks, locking systems, and door closures.
• Install, repair, replace, and maintain electronic locking systems.
• Make new or duplicate keys using a key-cutting machine; stamp codes on keys.
• Maintain key inventory and conduct annual comprehensive inventory.
• Ensure ADA compliance and safety of door systems.
• Operate and interpret computerized control systems.
