Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Tomah VA Medical Center in Wisconsin is seeking a skilled Locksmith. The role installs, repairs, and maintains locking devices across the facility, fabricates parts, and ensures secure, functional access.

You will follow NFPA standards, manage key control, and coordinate with other shops. Work hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; telework is not available.

Qualifications

• Experience as a locksmith with ability to install and repair locks within a complex facility.
• Ability to read work orders and follow NFPA standards and safety rules.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a facility environment.
• Willingness to work Monday through Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm, with standard federal work conditions.

Responsibilities

• Installs new parts and fabricates repair items for locks.
• Repairs, disassembles, and tests locking devices to ensure proper function.
• Maintains key control system, rekeys locks, and manages key inventory.
• Coordinates work with other shops and ensures compliance with security standards.
• Performs routine maintenance and inspections as assigned.
