Job summary

Amentum is hiring a Locksmith in North Dakota to install, repair, and maintain a wide range of locks and associated hardware. The role requires certification and the ability to open locks without keys using specialized methods, plus readiness for shift work and overtime.

Responsibilities include servicing doors, file cabinets, and furniture locks, maintaining accurate key records, and supporting maintenance teams during emergencies. A Top Secret clearance is required; US citizenship is necessary.

Qualifications

  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Must obtain DCJS Private Security Registration within 1 year.
  • Two+ years as a Certified Locksmith.
  • High school or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, adjust, service, maintain, and repair locks and related hardware.
  • Open locks without keys using picking, impressioning, drilling, or duplicating keys.
  • Respond to emergency calls and assist Contractors as needed.
  • Maintain records of key and lock assignments; manage master keys and re-keying.
  • Install door hardware including mortise, rim, and other locks; replace hardware as needed.
  • Assist in maintenance scheduling and related record keeping.

Job description

JOB FUNCTION: Install, repair, replace, and maintain locks; open locks without keys by picking, impressing, drilling, and duplicating keys.

HOURS: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Monday-Friday

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform installation, adjusting, servicing, maintaining, and repairing of combination door locks, door strikes, locks on file cabinets, desks, and other pieces of furniture.
  • Adjust door hinges, closures, and frames.
  • Check perform preventive maintenance on combination door locks, door closures,hinges, and associated hardware to assure that systems are properly working.
  • Disassemble combination-locking devices, repair or replace worn tumblers, springs, andother electronic or mechanical parts.
  • Reinstall new or repaired parts.
  • Change combinations, vaults, and doors with combinations.
  • Participate in related record keeping duties.
  • Install mortise, rim, and key for door locks; replace and install all finished buildingshardware such as door closures, panic bars, window closures and locks.
  • Repair locks on file cabinets, desks, and other pieces of furniture.
  • Perform master key and re-keying function; design key bypass systems and maintainaccurate records of such systems.
  • Duplicate keys, establish/maintain accurate records of key assignments, record changes in key, and lock assignments.
  • Service emergency locking devices such as panic bars to insure safe performance.
  • Assist in development and revision of maintenance schedules.
  • Assist contractors as required with knowledge of facilities, operations, and utilities.
  • Respond to emergency calls.
  • Perform other job-related work as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to comprehend written and oral instructions.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess one or more of the following certifications: Registered LocksmithCertification, Certified Professional Locksmith, Medico Factory Certified Unican Factory Certification, Yale I.C. Factory Certification or Kaba MAS X-10 certification.
  • Must be able to obtain within one year and maintain a Department of Criminal JusticeServices (DCJS) Private Security Registration
  • A willingness to work rotational shift if necessary, including days, evenings, and nightsas well as overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Two or more years working as a Certified Locksmith.

EDUCATION: High school, technical school, apprenticeship, trade school graduate or equivalent required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to write correspondence.
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship or vocational program for a locksmith .
  • Four years Grade 1 Carpenter, or equivalent carpenter experience, installing doors, frames, and associated hardware.

SECURITY: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret US Government security clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Incumbents may work in conditions that require operatingindustrial machinery/power tools and motor vehicles. Additionally, incumbents mayparticipate in work that requires walking, bending, squatting, and carrying materialsthroughout the facility. Workplace conditions necessitate following strict safety guidelines and the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Work tasks requiring the incumbent to liftweight more than 50 pounds requires two or more persons.
