Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Utility/Fiber Locator for on-site field operations in Deerfield Beach, FL. This contract-to-hire role focuses on locating utilities, fiber optics, and infrastructure components, with training provided for testing and network verification.

The candidate will work closely with project teams and field crews to ensure safety and accuracy. The position emphasizes experience in construction/OSP, strict adherence to DOT/Sunshine 811 standards, and willingness to travel locally

Responsibilities

• Perform underground utility locating using electromagnetic and ground-penetrating radar (GPR) equipment.
• Identify and mark fiber optic and other underground utilities in accordance with industry and safety standards.
• Interpret and review utility maps, prints, and GIS data.
• Support fiber optic installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting efforts.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field crews on infrastructure projects.
• Conduct site surveys and document findings accurately.
• Ensure compliance with 811/Dig Safe regulations and all local/state safety guidelines.
• Assist with fiber optic cable testing and basic network verification (training provided).
• Maintain equipment and ensure proper calibration and functionality.
• Travel locally to job sites as required.

This client is seeking a Utility/Fiber Locator to support field operations across telecommunications and infrastructure projects. We are looking for motivated individuals with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn. The client is committed to training and developing talent in utility locating, fiber optics, and Department of Transportation (DOT) systems.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
