Job summary

Nature Fresh Farms is hiring a Local Truck Driver for the Delta, OH location. You will operate tractor-trailer or straight trucks, transfer loads from farm to distribution daily, and work Monday through Friday with some Saturdays.

We are currently looking to fill a permanent full-time position for a Local Truck Driver in our Shipping and Receiving Department at our Delta, OH location. Work schedule is Monday - Friday with some Saturday's (8am to E.O.D).

Job Description

• The Local Truck Driver is an essential part of the Distribution Center’s team. They will be expected to deliver goods while operating a tractor-trailer truck or straight back. Driver will be responsible to transfer loads from Farm to Distribution Center daily. Monday thru Saturday.
  • Hours will be determined by farm production time and Distribution Center’s need for shipment.

Health and Safety

Ensures that safety procedures are followed at all times. The use of location prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’s) and supply list listed under Job Specific duties is mandatory. All Health and Safety policies and procedures established by management must be followed at all times. All Health and Safety policies and procedures pertaining to this position will be initially trained at orientation, and in refresher training completed annually or as needed. A hardcopy of the Health and Safety policies and procedures Handbook pertaining to Nature Fresh is located Human Resources office, or online on the company web for review at any time. Any non-conformance or inquiries pertaining to health and safety must be brought to the attention of your supervisor and will be dealt with accordingly.

Food Safety

Proper handling and all food safety policies and procedures established by management must be followed at all times. All food safety policies and procedures pertaining to this position will be initially trained at orientation, and in refresher training completed annually or as needed. A hardcopy of the Food Safety policies and procedures Handbook pertaining to Nature Fresh is located in the Human Resources office, or online on the company web for review at any time. Any non-conformance or inquiries pertaining to food safety must be brought to the attention of your supervisor and will be dealt with accordingly.

Job Specific Duties

• Follow all applicable transportation regulated laws and act
• Perform regular inspections on trucks and submit work orders as necessary
  • Pre- trip inspection
  • Check gas levels in trailer and truck
    • Fill at truck stop if needed, and or fill at tank on site if one is available.
  • Check oil level and ensure it is filled
  • Check DEF fluid and ensure it is filled
  • Sweep out trailer to clear debris after every unload
  • Weekly power wash and clean vehicle, weekly power wash and clean trailer
• Comply with all safety policies and procedures
• Assist with loading/unloading trucks
• Maintain a daily truck log with accurate log of miles and time
• Additional responsibilities may arise as requested by the warehouse manager
• Driver will communicate with Maintenance Department and Warehouse Manager on any issues he/she finds with equipment.
• Driver will take the equipment to repair shop in the event that work cannot be completed on site.
• Driver will check the reefer trailer temperatures and ensure it is set properly for the commodity that is being loaded.
• Driver will regularly check and communicate with Farm Shipping Manager, Farm Allocation Manager, Distribution Center Shipping Manager and Supervisors, and Distribution Center Commodity Coordinator Supervisor to ensure all product is transported correctly and in a timely manner.
• When no cross-dock work is present, truck driver will clean outside the facility (dock, sidewalks, parking lot, etc.), help with clearing sidewalks during inclement weather, assist production if needed, special projects around the facility, other duties as assigned.
• It is the Farm’s obligation to ensure the truck is loaded. The Truck Driver will not be entering the farm for any reason due to the tomato virus.

Working Conditions

• Working with minimal supervision for most of the day

• Must be available Monday-Sunday for days

Physical Requirements

• There may be an occasional need for some heavy lifting (when needed).
• Balance between sitting, standing, and walking throughout the warehouse – some forklift driving is required.
