Job summary

GCC is seeking a delivery driver for concrete mixer trucks to serve job sites across the region. You will perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, load materials, and ensure safe handling of concrete products.

This role emphasizes customer interaction, accuracy in paperwork, and adherence to DOT guidelines. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, English proficiency, and the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (minimum) or equivalent experience.
• Ability to pass Federal DOT drug screen and physical.
• Maintain driving record per Federal and State regulations.
• Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures.
• Write routine reports and correspondence; speak before groups clearly.
• English reading, writing and speaking required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver concrete mix to job sites using truck with a concrete mixer.
• Pre-trip inspection of truck per DOT regulations and fluid checks.
• Fill water tank and prepare for delivery per procedures.
• Plan direct routes to ensure on-time delivery.
• Maneuver truck safely on unstable ground at sites.
• Add fibers, chemical admixtures, cement, or colors as needed.
• Position chutes and discharge; wash chutes after discharge.
• Wash truck after shift; use acidic solution when required.
• Communicate with dispatch via radio and status system.
• Call out start time daily and perform post-trip inspection.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/management.

Job description

What you will do:

Drives truck equipped with a concrete mixer to deliver concrete mix to job sites.

• Pre-trip inspection of ready-mix truck pursuant to D.O.T. regulations. Pre-trip inspectionincludes checking fluid levels of engine oil, antifreeze, tire pressure, brakes, and other driver-operated controls for loading and unloading ready-mix.
• Fills water tank before each delivery by placing rubber hose into the water tank and filling after checking that all valves are shut.
• Uses map book and experience and takes most direct route to job site to ensure on-timedelivery.
• Safely drives truck to jobsite and arrives with the desired slump within customer or jobspecifications.
• Upon arriving on jobsite, the driver must be able to safely maneuver truck in often veryunstable ground conditions. Safe observations of customers’ equipment and conditions.
• Driver will add necessary ingredients such as fibers, chemical admixtures, cement, orintegral colors at plant or job site, as well as other products.
• Pursuant to customer needs, driver will place chutes from fender or hanging rack onto themain chute at the rear of truck for discharge. Upon completion of discharge, driver willwash the chutes and put back in the appropriate location on truck.
• Upon completion of each shift, driver will wash truck with a hose and brush, including the useof acidic solution when necessary.
• Communicate with dispatch through the use of two-way radio and the use of a truckstatus signaling system.
• Ready-mix driver is responsible to call callout each day for start time.
• Each driver is expected to perform a post-trip inspection of the truck pursuant to DOTregulations.
• Performs other duties assigned by supervisor/management.

Experience and abilities you will need:

High school diploma (minimum); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to pass Federal Department of Transportation drug screen and physical.
• Maintain driving record in accordance with Federal and State Motor Carrier regulations.
• Ability to handle cash and make change.
• Ability to deal with customers and other employees in a diplomatic manner.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
• Maintain Department of Transportation Health cond.
• Average Work Hours: 10 hours/day, 4 - 6 days/week
• Lifting 50lbs. frequently
