Job summary

Confidential is seeking a General Manager for a local operation in the transportation and logistics sector. This hands-on, people-first leader will develop teams, build strong customer relationships, and drive operational excellence while owning financial performance.

The ideal candidate will manage budgets, forecasts, and strategic initiatives to grow revenue and profitability, oversee diverse functions, and uphold a culture of safety and service quality within a dynamic organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Admin/Management or 10+ years of comparable experience; MBA preferred.
• 3+ years of supervisory or management experience with P&L oversight.
• Proven ability to lead, develop, and retain high-performing teams.
• Strong financial, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing customer relationships and resolving complex operational issues.

Responsibilities

• Own the overall performance, operations, and results of the local operation.
• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a diverse team across operations, dispatch, fleet, maintenance, safety, and administration.
• Build a customer-focused culture centered on service excellence, partnerships, and customer retention.
• Develop and execute operating plans aligned with broader business goals and objectives.
• Manage budgets and participate in annual operating plans, forecasting, and business reviews.
• Develop short- and long-term strategies to drive revenue growth, profitability, and operational performance.
• Take ownership of the operation's P&L and financial results.
• Partner with regional leadership to address operational challenges, resource needs, and business priorities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, employees, community organizations, vendors, and business partners.
• Regularly review service quality and operational performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Establish and maintain a strong culture of safety, accountability, and high-quality service.
• Identify safety and operational risks and take appropriate corrective action.
• Support business development and sales initiatives, including proposals, customer growth, and new business opportunities.
• Lead by example with integrity, professionalism, accountability, and strong ethical business practices.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed.
