Job summary

The State of Indiana is seeking a Local Government Specialist in the Office of the State Comptroller. You will be the primary point of contact with local government, supporting semiannual property tax settlements and related distributions, while collaborating with agencies like DLGF and SBOA to ensure accurate reporting.

Responsibilities include updating SOPs, supporting large-scale office priorities, and providing guidance on tax procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Auditing, or Financial Management/Analysis.
• 5 years professional experience in relevant field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational ability.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage the semiannual settlement process (IC 6-1.1-22.5).
• Prepare and initiate tax distributions to local government including MVH, LRS, Riverboat Revenue Sharing; journal entries.
• Review and track monthly and semiannual tax remittances from local government.
• Maintain ongoing communication with local government officials on tax matters and calculations.
• Assist Comptroller and General Counsel with legislative matters affecting local government.
• Present policy updates at SBOA conferences and meetings.
