Job summary

21st Century Personnel is seeking a Local Class A CDL Shuttle Driver in the Richmond area. You will shuttle between two customers with automatic trailers, performing drop-and-hook and live deliveries. Expect 5–12 loads daily and work in active facilities with training provided.

Compensation starts at $26.15 per hour with OT opportunities. 1–3 days of orientation, full benefits in 30 days, and a newer fleet of automatic trucks accompany this role.

• Valid CDL-A license and must be at least 21 years old.
• Must be a VA CDL.
• At least 1 year solo tractor trailer driving experience in the past 3 years.
• At least 2 years' experience in the past 5 years.

Job description

Local Class A CDL Shuttle Driver

Drivers will shuttle between 2 customers throughout the Richmond area.

The account uses automatic/self-unloading trailers. Drivers receive training on the specialized equipment and operating procedures. Drivers are frequently in and out of the tractor throughout the day performing drop-and-hook and live pickup/delivery work. Depending on customer volume, a driver may handle approximately 5–6 loads per day up to 10–12 loads per day. Drivers must be comfortable maneuvering trailers in tight spaces and working within active customer production facilities.

The operation includes switching/jockey and shuttle positions. Daily assignments are based on production requirements and operational needs. Work is generally performed to completion , meaning daily finish times may vary.

This is a union-represented account. Candidates are informed that a union representative will meet with them after hire. Drivers can elect whether or not to pay union membership dues.

Drivers must also successfully complete the extended background and security clearance process.

Before an ID badge can be issued, the driver must complete the required background process and watch the required video at the Chester terminal. Additional operational training is then provided for the various business units.

• 4-5 days per week. 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts


• Monday–Thursday, approximately 6:00 AM–3:30 PM


• Tuesday–Saturday, approximately 6:00 AM–3:30 PM


• Monday–Friday, 2nd shift beginning approximately 2:30–3:00 PM and ending approximately 11:30 PM–12:30 AM


• Sunday–Thursday, 3rd shift approximately 10:00 PM–6:00 AM


• Additional or extended hours may be required based on production volume.


• $26.15/hr. with OT opportunities depending on customer demand


• $1200 average weekly pay before OT


• 1-3 day paid local orientation

Requirements:

• Valid CDL-A license and must be at least 21 years old

• Experience must be with comparable equipment (45 foot or longer)


• Local experience will count if the driver has been driving in the same states as regional position
