Job summary

Ben E. Keith Company is seeking a DOT Driver Trainee to deliver product along assigned routes with multiple stops. You will maintain delivery time windows and learn to promote to a Driver DOT position. The role requires reading invoices, assembling orders, and ensuring accurate, damage-free deliveries.

Valid Class A CDL is required after training. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and work in varying weather conditions. Ben E.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL driver’s license required.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects, assignments and tasks, monitoring use of time and providing timely responses.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service.

Responsibilities

• Deliver product along assigned routes consisting of multiple stops with various levels of difficulty.
• Read invoices to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed and delivered.
• Assemble customer orders to be delivered to places of business.
• Maintain delivery time windows for each stop on the route.
• Maintain accuracy of delivered product with no damage due to mishandling.
• Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
• Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment to ensure proper working condition.
• Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.
• Maintain records such as vehicle logs and cargo billing statements in accordance with regulations.
• Report delays, accidents or other transportation situations to bases.
