Job summary

Old Dominion is seeking a hardworking Local P&D or City Driver to ensure timely and safe freight delivery between service centers and customer locations. The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and efficiency with a strong service mindset.

OD notes an average pay around $81,000 annually and offers a Tuition Reimbursement Program for new graduates of a trucking school. Responsibilities include operating tractors-trailers per DOT rules, loading/unloading freight, reading labels, and securing loads.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A CDL with double/triple trailers, tanker, and hazmat endorsements.
• Must have 12 months tractor-trailer driving experience or graduate of approved driving school.
• Must meet DOT driving regulations, hours of service, inspection and maintenance.
• Must pass drug and alcohol tests and DOT medical standards.
• Must be at least 22 years old.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicle safely within DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection, maintenance, and transportation of hazardous materials.
• Meet or exceed medical standards and pass drug and alcohol tests.
• Load/unload freight using forklift, pallet jack or manually in compliance with DOT guidelines.
• Transport freight between service centers and customer locations as assigned.
• Utilize Dock Yard Management System to monitor freight locations.
• Read shipping labels and complete related freight forms and manifests.
• Hand load, rewrap or stack freight and ensure trailer loading quality.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope, etc.
• Maintain frequent contact with service center personnel; meet deadlines.
• Be available to meet customer pickup and delivery schedules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
