Job summary

Carlile Transportation is seeking a Local Driver for the Fairbanks, AK area. This full-time role involves freight pickups and deliveries, strict safety compliance, and ongoing communication with dispatch. You will inspect equipment, maintain logs, and ensure cargo is secured per FMCSA regulations.

The position requires a Class A CDL with endorsements and a HAZMAT endorsement within 90 days. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), vacation and holidays, and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

• High school education or a GED equivalent.
• Class A CDL driver's license with all endorsements.
• HAZMAT endorsement within 90-days of hire and maintain HAZMAT, required.
• Doubles certification preferred, but not required.
• Experience with pallet jacks and lift gates, preferred.
• One to three years of verifiable safe driving experience preferred, newly graduated drivers welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight via pickups and deliveries as required.
• Inspect trucks and trailers and report defects during pre-trip, mid-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Maintain driver e-logs and e-maintenance logs per state and federal rules.
• Ensure cargo is secured for transport in vans and flatbeds according to FMCSRs and hazmat rules.
• Prepare bills of lading and maintain a clean vehicle and cab.
• Communicate with dispatch to receive instructions and report safety concerns.
• May perform Dock Worker duties related to loading and unloading.
• May down stack and inside delivery at customer locations and assist with roadside repairs when needed.
