Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Six months of relevant driving or freight experience.
• Experience driving multiple vehicle types in varying weather conditions.
• Strong communication via radio and telephone.
• Customer-first mindset and professional demeanor.
• Ability to read schedules, maps, hazmat documents, and freight paperwork.
• Strong attention, decision-making and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent time-management and prioritization abilities.
• Knowledge of proper and safe lifting techniques.

Responsibilities

• Safely pick up and deliver local freight with a variety of vehicles, including flatbeds, box trucks, vans, and tractors.
• Load and unload trucks, trailers, or containers as needed.
• Move freight within the yard or warehouse using a forklift or other equipment.
• Complete and process required freight paperwork accurately and on time.
• Represent Span Alaska Transportation professionally with customers and partners.
• Follow all DOT regulations and safety policies.
• Inspect vehicles daily and perform minor maintenance as needed.
• Assist with warehouse cleanup and organization.
