Job summary

Ross Express, Inc. in Hartford, VT is seeking a CDL-B City Driver to pick up and deliver freight for local customers. You will be home daily, with weekends and holidays off, supporting our local LTL operations and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities include safe operation of commercial vehicles, local freight pickup and delivery, DOT-compliant logs, and vehicle inspections. A valid CDL-B, clean driving record, DOT physical, and successful drug screen are required.

Qualifications

• Experience: 1 year of commercial vehicle driving experience is required.
• Clean Driving Record: no suspensions within 36 months; no serious violations in 60 months; no repeated at-fault incidents.
• Physical Examination: Must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.
• Pre-Employment Drug Screen: Must test negative.
• Previous Employer Drug & Alcohol Check: Ross Express must receive negative results for past 3 years.
• Work History Check: ten-year check; explain gaps of 30 days or more.
• Tanker and Hazmat Endorsement: preferred but not mandatory; must obtain within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Safe Operation of Commercial Vehicles: Drive safely, comply with laws and safety guidelines.
• Local Freight Pickup and Delivery: Efficiently pick up and deliver local freight to customer locations.
• Record Keeping and Compliance: Maintain logs and vehicle inspection reports for regulatory compliance.
• Hazardous Materials Handling: Follow federal requirements for hazardous materials transport.
• Customer Interaction and Professionalism: Interact courteously with customers during pickups and deliveries.
• Equipment Maintenance and Inspection: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report issues; keep vehicle clean.
