Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a Local P&D or City Driver to move freight between service centers and customer sites within the local area. You will sort, load, and unload freight while maintaining safety and accuracy in daily operations.

The role emphasizes adherence to DOT regulations, safe driving practices, and timely deliveries, with opportunities for tuition reimbursement and career growth across 260+ service centers.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and speak English.
• Must pass DOT medical standards and drug/alcohol tests.
• Must have 12 months tractor-trailer driving experience or completed an approved driving program.
• Must have valid CDL Class A with required endorsements.
• Able to operate tablets and use handheld devices.
• Must meet company safety and training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer safely under DOT regulations.
• Load and unload freight using forklifts or manually.
• Read and interpret shipping documents and manifests.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets and straps.
• Follow instructions via two-way radio or phone.
