Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking Local P&D or City Drivers to operate tractor-trailer combinations between service centers and customer facilities within the local geographic area.

You will sort, handle, load, and unload freight, while following DOT regulations and safety standards. Ideal candidates have a valid CDL Class A, at least 22 years old, and 12 months experience; strong attention to safety and accuracy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid CDL Class A with appropriate endorsements.
• 12 months tractor-trailer driving experience or completion of approved driver training.
• Must pass drug and alcohol tests and meet DOT medical standards.
• Ability to read shipping labels and forms used in freight movement.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer safely within DOT regulations.
• Load and unload freight and secure it inside trailers.
• Meet pickup and delivery schedules and communicate with service centers.
• Inspect vehicles and report maintenance needs.
• Use forklifts or pallet jacks as needed to move freight.
