Job description

Loan Sales Representative

Listen to the full story. Build the right loan solution. Move every opportunity forward.

Do you enjoy connecting with people, uncovering what they truly need, and turning a conversation into the right financial solution? Join our team as a Loan Sales Representative and help members move forward with confidence. You’ll lead meaningful loan conversations, learn the whole story behind each request, gather the information needed to present a complete application, and clearly document the details that help underwriting and loan processors keep the loan moving.

What You’ll Do
  • Welcome members, build trust quickly, and create a comfortable conversation about what they want to accomplish.
  • Ask thoughtful follow-up questions to understand the whole story—including the purpose of the loan, the member’s priorities, relevant financial circumstances, and the desired outcome.
  • Gather complete information by phone or electronically so each loan application is ready for an informed review.
  • Take clear, thorough notes that capture the member’s story, key facts, questions, explanations, and next steps for underwriting and loan processors.
  • Recommend loan options, insurance products, and other credit union solutions that support the member’s goals.
  • Set expectations, explain rates, policies, payoffs, and the loan process, and remain a trusted point of contact throughout the loan life cycle.
  • Generate new business through outbound calling, lead development, cross-selling, and partnerships with local businesses.
  • Follow up promptly, respond to electronic requests within 24 hours, and keep members and internal partners informed.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, loan processors, and teammates to create a smooth experience from the first conversation through closing.
How You’ll Win
  • Tell the complete loan story: You listen beyond the first answer, ask the next question, and understand the member’s needs before recommending a solution.
  • Sell with purpose: You connect members with loan and insurance options that make sense for their goals while confidently asking for the business.
  • Build a strong file: You collect the information underwriting and loan processors need and record useful notes that explain the request, context, and conversation.
  • Keep momentum: You follow up, resolve open questions, communicate next steps, and help prevent avoidable delays.
  • Own the goal: You maintain a healthy pipeline, monitor results, pursue new opportunities, and stay accountable for monthly sales expectations.
  • Create lasting relationships: You make members feel heard and supported, earning trust that continues beyond a single loan.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or a degree in a related field is highly preferred.
  • Ability to learn credit underwriting techniques, sales tools, and lending procedures.
  • Strong verbal, written, mathematical, presentation, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work assigned hours based on business and operational needs.
  • Ability to perform the role’s essential functions, with reasonable accommodations available for qualified individuals.
