Job description

Operations Analyst, Special Loan Accounting

  • 6 month contract - high potential for extension or conversion
  • Remote - need to be in the Chicagoland area

Overview

This position is on the Special Loan Accounting team that provides support, guidance, and advice for all non-performing loans and demand deposit accounts, remediation projects, and be the point of contact for Special Asset Management Unit (SAMU), Bankruptcy, Collection, Loss-Mitigation, Retail Business Lending Operations (RBLO), Private Bank, Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Small Business Collections (SBC) and Small Business Operations. This role will be responsible for ensuring non-performing loans and demand deposit accounts are accurately processed in the Bank’s source applications and general ledger. The ability to effectively analyze information, perform multiple tasks, problem solve, and recommend improvements are critical to the role. The position is responsible for the following, but not limited to:

  • Processes general ledger journal entries
  • Research and exception analysis
  • Prepare and review transaction summaries and billing statements
  • Loan transfers between source application systems
  • Loan sales
  • Reporting to Chex Systems
  • Other Real Estate Owned (OREO) functions
  • Charge Offs
  • Non-Accruals
  • Accrual calculations
  • Perform analysis on loan transaction histories to resolve disputes
  • This position requires regular attendance with overtime requirements as needed to meet business needs. This typically occurs during periods of high volume workload.
  • Follows through after research is completed
  • Report any concerns to management
  • Follows up and resolve any exceptions
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills as this role requires interaction with both internal and external customers
  • Practices attentive listening to understand the needs of the individuals; communicates effectively so that issues can be resolved.
  • Effectively manage multiple competing priorities
  • Ability to utilize resources available to get projects complete and issues resolved in a timely manner

Qualifications

  • University degree / college diploma or equivalent work experience 2 to 3 years of related experience
  • Good understanding of the business unit’s risk and regulatory requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
  • Strong listening skills, communication skills, and presentation skills
  • Technical skills
  • Strong understanding of loan systems
  • Familiar with compliance and servicing regulations and guidelines
  • Conversant in lending practices and accrual calculations
  • Commitment to continuous improvement
  • Familiar with non-performing loans
  • Ability to come up with new ideas that can add value to the existing processes
  • Willingness to re-engineer processes from scratch; including working with others and openly accepting suggestions
