Job summary

Neighborhood Loans is seeking a full-time Loan Officer for our Southlake, TX office. You will originate loans, review borrower documents, and guide clients through the application and approval process, while coordinating with underwriting and processing teams.

Ideal candidates have residential loan product knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple files with deadlines. Prior mortgage lending experience and a Texas license are preferred.

Qualifications

Role Description

This is a full-time, Loan Officer role based out of our Southlake, TX office. The Loan Officer will work directly with prospective and current borrowers to assess mortgage needs, explain loan options, and guide them through the application and approval process. Daily responsibilities include originating new loans, collecting and reviewing borrower documentation, collaborating with underwriting and processing teams, and ensuring compliance with lending regulations and company policies. The role involves providing clear, timely communication, maintaining accurate records in lending systems, and following up with clients to support a smooth, transparent experience from initial inquiry through closing. The Loan Officer will also build and maintain relationships with real estate agents, referral partners, and community contacts to generate new business opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Loan Officer or in a similar mortgage lending role, with knowledge of residential loan products and guidelines.


• Strong finance and lending acumen, including understanding of credit, income analysis, and debt-to-income ratios.


• Familiarity with underwriting processes and documentation requirements, and ability to collaborate effectively with underwriting teams.


• Customer service skills with a focus on clear communication, empathy, and maintaining positive borrower relationships.


• Loan origination skills, including prospecting, qualifying borrowers, and managing a pipeline of applications.


• Proficiency with loan origination systems and basic office software; comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.


• High ethical standards, attention to detail, and commitment to regulatory compliance and company policies.


• Relevant state licensing for mortgage loan origination in Texas (or ability to obtain); prior experience in mortgage lending or banking is preferred.


• Strong organizational and time management abilities, with capacity to manage multiple files and priorities.
