Role Description The Loan Officer is a full-time hybrid role based in Richmond, VA, with flexibility for some work from home. This role is responsible for originating residential mortgage loans, guiding applicants through the loan process, and providing clear information on products, rates, and requirements. Day-to-day tasks include meeting with prospective borrowers, collecting and analyzing financial documentation, coordinating with underwriting and processing teams, and ensuring applications comply with lending regulations and company policies. The Loan Officer will maintain strong customer relationships, follow up on leads, manage a pipeline of loans from application through closing, and collaborate with real estate professionals and other partners to grow business. The role requires consistent, high-quality customer service, accurate documentation, and proactive communication with all parties involved in each transaction.
Qualifications

  • Experience in Loan Origination and Loan Officer responsibilities, including managing a pipeline of residential mortgage applications.
  • Knowledge of Finance principles and mortgage products, with the ability to explain terms, rates, and options to borrowers.
  • Familiarity with Underwriting guidelines and documentation requirements to help structure files for approval.
  • Strong Customer Service skills, with a focus on responsiveness, empathy, and clear communication throughout the loan process.
  • Relevant state licensing and NMLS registration, or eligibility and willingness to obtain required credentials.
  • Proficiency with loan origination systems, CRM tools, and standard office software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing in-office collaboration in Richmond, VA with remote work.
  • Demonstrated integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to regulatory compliance and ethical lending practices.
  • Prior experience in mortgage lending, banking, or financial services is preferred.
  • High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field is beneficial.
