Job summary

Ascend Bank is seeking a skilled Loan Closer in Wallingford, CT to prepare, review, and finalize closing documents for residential mortgage and consumer loans. You will ensure accuracy, TRID/RESPA/TILA compliance, and timely funding in partnership with borrowers, settlement agents, and loan officers.

The role requires a two-year degree and at least 3 years of mortgage closing experience, meticulous attention to detail, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school.
• Strong knowledge of mortgage lending guidelines (conventional, FHA, VA, USDA).
• Familiarity with loan origination systems and TRID/RESPA/TILA regulations.

Responsibilities

Salary Range: $21.60 To $30.86 Annually

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Mortgage and Consumer Loan Closer is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and finalizing closing documents for residential mortgage loans, including consumer loan products. This role ensures all loan packages are accurate, compliant with investor and regulatory requirements, and ready for funding.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Closing & Document Preparation
• Prepare and review closing disclosures (CDs) and closing packages for residential and consumer products.
• Ensure accuracy of loan terms, fees, escrows, and compliance with program guidelines
• Coordinate closing timelines with settlement agents, loan officers, and borrowers
• Balance and finalize loan figures prior to closing
• Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
• Ensure compliance with TRID, RESPA, TILA, and agency-specific requirements
• Review conditions to confirm loans are clear to close
• Ensure proper documentation for insuring/guaranteeing government loans

This position requires compliance with all mortgage regulatory requirements and Ascend Bank’s compliance policies related to these requirements including acceptable background check investigation results. Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements including additional screening and required reporting of certain incidents.

EDUCATION REQUIRED

• Familiarity with loan origination systems
• Understanding of compliance regulations and documentation standards

• In-depth knowledge of TRID, RESPA, TILA, and mortgage closing regulations

*Compensation is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Position Wage Range $21.60-30.86
