Job summary

USA Jet, based at Willow Run Airport in Belleville, MI, seeks a Loadmaster to support on-demand cargo operations with FAA-compliant responsibilities. The role requires preparedness for 24/7 operations and travel, with a background in civilian/military loadmaster work and valid licensing.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform ground operations in accordance with 14 CFR Part 121 operation specifications.
  • Ensure cargo and COMAT are inspected, packaged, labeled, loaded, and restrained per policy and regulations.
  • Verify cargo, dangerous goods, and documentation for assigned flights.
  • Supervise and direct ground support personnel handling and loading.
  • Perform TSA and customs tasks as required.
  • Inspect and operate cargo loading equipment and report discrepancies.
  • Keep cabin and cargo areas clean and properly stowed.
  • Be flexible for on-demand, 24/7/365 operations.
  • Maintain qualifications and recurrent training.
  • Submit end of month paysheets and expense reports.
  • Participate in Safety Programs and report safety concerns.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform ground operations in accordance with 14 CFR Part 121 operation specifications.
  • Ensure cargo and COMAT are inspected, packaged, labeled, loaded, and restrained per company policy, procedures, and applicable government regulations.
  • Verify the accuracy of all cargo, dangerous goods, and accompanying documentation for assigned flight(s).
  • Supervise and direct all ground support personnel assigned to handling, loading, and off-loading assigned aircraft.
  • Perform TSA and customs tasks as required.
  • Inspect and operate (or supervises the operation of) all cargo loading equipment, aircraft cargo doors, restraint systems and reports any discrepancies to aircraft PIC and USA Jet Maintenance Control.
  • Perform tasks as required to keep the aircraft cabin and cargo compartments clean and orderly and equipment properly stowed.
  • Replace unserviceable aircraft loading equipment as soon as practicable.
  • Be flexible for on-demand, ad-hoc, 24/7/365 flight operations.
  • Maintain qualifications and recurrent training for job duties.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of end of month paysheets and expense reports.
  • Actively participate in USA Jet Safety Programs and SMS. Report all safety concerns in a timely manner. Required to ensure that they and their co-workers are performing their functions in the safest possible manner.
  • Follow the standards of the Occupational Safety and Health organization with legal authority at the location at which they are working.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Manager, Air Cargo Operations, or designated Supervisor (i.e., Director of Operations, PIC).
What You’ll Bring
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Experience as a civilian or military Loadmaster preferred.
  • Experience in on-demand cargo operations business highly preferred.
  • Fork-lift operating experience preferred.
  • Pass an initial, and random, Drug and Alcohol screening process as required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and a fingerprint based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and/or Security Threat Assessment (STA) as required by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
  • Hold a valid state issued Driver’s License
  • Must be physically able to operate company vehicles and equipment on airport and over-the-road
  • Must maintain a valid passport (U.S. or other nation).Must travel for work as required.
  • Proof of eligibility for employment in the United States and a three-year employment history in the United States or Canada.
  • Have the capability to obtain a CANPASS for expediting through Canadian Customs.
