Job summary

Alter Trading Corporation seeks a dependable Loader Operator in Madison, WI. The role involves loading, unloading, and sorting scrap materials with heavy equipment on 1st shift, Monday–Friday, with occasional weekend work.

Safety and efficiency are emphasized across yard operations and routine maintenance. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, plus experience with heavy machinery; training is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
• Prior experience operating heavy machinery or driving a semi-tractor/trailer is a plus — training will be provided.
• Basic machine maintenance knowledge is a bonus.
• Ability to lift 30–50 lbs independently and 100+ lbs with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to load and unload trucks, semi-trailers, and rail cars.
• Sort and relocate scrap materials within the yard.
• Inspect inbound and outbound loads for safety and compliance.
• Perform routine maintenance such as greasing and oil changes.
• Assist with minor crane maintenance and general labor tasks.
• Wear required PPE and follow all safety protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
