Job summary

Lhoist North America is seeking a Loader Operator to safely and efficiently load haul trucks and maintain the loader area in a mining environment.

The role requires adherence to safety, quality, and SQF standards, and may involve back-up duties. Strong teamwork, reliability, and the ability to work flexible shifts are essential.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year heavy manufacturing/mining experience preferred.
  • Preferred: technical training or AA degree; CDL Class A/B is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Report pre-shift equipment inspections to Mine Foreman.
  • Report unsafe conditions to a supervisor.
  • Lubricate loader and maintain fluids.
  • Attend safety meetings and enforce safety policies.
  • Implement elements of the quality manual and maintain documentation.
  • Capable of back-up duties for other Loader Operators.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the loading of haul trucks in a safe, efficient, and acceptable manner while following all company quality guidelines and work procedures. The position is also responsible for the safety, upkeep, and cleanliness of the load out areas.

Responsibilities & Expectations
Reporting
  • Report pre-shift equipment inspections to Mine Foreman
  • Report any unsafe conditions to a supervisor immediately
Maintenance
  • Lubricate loader as required
  • Maintain fluid level in loader
  • Assist maintenance team members as directed
Safety
  • Attend safety meetings
  • Enforce all company, local, state and federal safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain Company and Federal House Keeping Standards
Quality System
  • Implement all elements of the quality manual
  • Maintain validity of documentation affecting the positions listed above
  • Maintain the validity of all procedures affecting the positions listed above
Back‑Up
  • Be capable of performing back‑up duties for other Loader Operators and other qualified personnel
Safe Quality Food (SQF)
  • Ensure a SQF workplace and follow regulatory compliance with Federal FDA – Food Modernization Safety Act (CFR Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, Part 507)
  • Support Environmental Health and Safety, as well as SQF initiatives and awareness programs
  • Be a leader and promoter of employee safety and SQF culture
  • Following completion of SQF training, demonstrate understanding of expected safety, SQF performance and Food Safety Culture
  • Complete periodic SQF training(s)
  • Each site location will ensure training is conducted for new employees and continued for existing employees
  • Employees will actively participate in audits for regulatory, safety, SQF and environmental compliance at the site

  • Knowledgeable of current environmental regulations and practices as they relate to the industry.
  • Must be able to work shift work, seven days a week including holidays and be flexible to schedule changes, including overtime.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with supervisors, managers, and peers.
Physical Demands Include, But Are Not Limited To
  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.
  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a mining environment.
  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Mineral Particles.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
  • Ability to consistently lift over 50 pounds as needed.
Required Education
  • High School Diploma, GED Equivalent, or demonstrated skills or ability.
Preffered Education
  • Technical training or AA degree in technical related field is desired. Valid CDL Class A or Class B license is desired.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of one year of previous heavy manufacturing and/or mining experience is highly preferred. Previous heavy equipment experience is desired.
Preffered Experience
  • 2 – 4 years of experience
